Shubmman Gill and Vijay Shankar to join Indian squad
BCCI has named Shubnam Gill and Vijay Shankar as the replacement for KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. Both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were suspended by BCCI for their comments on the talk show “Koffee with Karan”. The talk show was aired on last Sunday. The comments made by Hardik Pandya were deemed crass and sexist where he boasted about his encounters with multiple women.
After a serious backlash on social media, BCCI took note of the situation. Hardik Pandya apologized via Twitter; however, BCCI took action and suspended both the players till further notice.
Disciplinary action against Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul
Both the players have been sent back to India from Australia and they have been asked why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against them. They have been given a time of 7 days to answer. In order to compensate for these two BCCI has asked Shubnam Gill and Vijay Shankar to join the Indian squad. Vijay Shankar will be joining the team before the 2nd ODI against Australia to be played on 15th January while Shubman Gill will be able to join the team on the New Zealand tour only.
Vijay Shankar in international Cricket
Vijay Shankar has already played for India in T20 format when he played in Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka. He is the pace bowling allrounder and in absence of Hardik Pandya, team management would want him to shine and rise. In 5 matches he batted in 1 inning where he scored 17 runs. He bowled in all 5 matches and took 3 wickets.
Young sensation Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill was the player of the tournament in U-19 World Cup. He is playing well consistently and it was just a matter a time for him to be picked in the senior side. In ICC U19 World Cup in 2018, he scored 418 runs at an average of 104.50.
In the first match, Australia defeated India by 34 runs in spite of a good show by Rohit Sharma who scored 133 runs. Both the teams will play in Adelaide next on 15th January. We will keep you updated.
