Indian badminton player PV SINDHU defeated Spanish Carolina Marlin in Indian Open Super Series on Sunday. The final which was played in Siri Fort complex New Delhi, Sindhu overpowered her Olympic nemesis, Carolina Marin.
The 21-year-old, ace Indian shuttler fought a challenging battle at the net, before winning 21-19, 21-16 in 47 minutes.
By winning this match Sindhu will be the World No 2 when rankings will be declared by the BWF (Badminton World Federation) on Thursday, April 6. She is at present at position 5th after winning this match she will be on rank 2.
Carolina Marin is the same player who defeated Sindhu in Rio Olympics and forced Sindhu to settle with the Silver Medal instead of Gold Medal. This win has healed all the wounds of Sindhu. She has shown the world that she is a strong and powerful player and can defeat any player.
Sindhu wins her second Super Series Title. This Indian player has shown courage and a zeal and she entered the final after beating the likes of Saina Nehwal and Sung Ji-Hyun.
In a post-match conference, Sindhu said: “There were no easy points and there were long rallies.” She thanked all the spectators for the support she received. Sindhu’s Father and Coach Gopichand both were present to cheer her up.
