MotoGP News: Marc Marquez Underwent Successful Surgery, However, Time to Return Is Still Unsure, Will Remain In Barcelona For 48 Hours.

Defending champion Marc Marquez underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday. Luckily for the rider the surgery went will without any intervention to radial nerve. The team of Dr. Mir and Dr. Barrera was able to successfully performed an open reduction and internal fixation of a titanium plate to the right humerus to repair the fracture. Defending champion injured himself during the main race on Sunday. He will be kept under observation in  Hospital Universitari Dexeus for next 48 hours. 6 time Marquez is defending his MotoGP title, however, there is no clarity when he will return to racing circuit.

Marc Marquez Injury

During the SpanishMotoGP 2020 the defending champion Marc Marquez met with an horrendous accident and sustained a shoulder injury. He has been diagnosed with a fractured right humerus. The incident took place at corner three after making an incredible comeback from P16 to a podium fight Marc was engaged in a battle with Maverick Vinales for P2 that’s when he lost control.

Along with Marquez LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow underwent a successful surgery in Barcelona with the same doctor.

Recovery & Return to MotoGP World Championship

Marc Marquez who successfully underwent the medical surgery in Barcelona currently recovering. Though Marquez would want to return to the circuit as soon as he can. However, his team wants to make sure that he is not taking any risk. And only comeback at 100% rather than rushing himself into the world championship. Marquez was treated at Hospital Universitari Dexeus along with Cal Crutchlow. The British rider missed the opening race due to injury, however, he is hopeful for Andalucia MotoGP 2020.

Addressing to his fans Marquez on Twitter Marquez thanked his supporters and the team Dr. Mir. He added he is feeling better and looking forward for recovery.

“Everyone who races in the World Championship has the unfortunate possibility of getting injured and having to go to the operating room. Unfortunately, it was our turn and it was Marc who has had to undergo surgery. Marc will take some time to recover but we are happy with how everything has gone. Doctor Mir and his team have taken care of the entire situation since the fall and performed a successful operation. This gives the Repsol Honda Team a lot of motivation, knowing it went well, but now we have to be patient to see how Marc recovers and to understand when he can return.

“Cal Crutchlow also had an operation that went well and in principle, his intention is to test the wrist on Friday. We are optimistic about his participation in the Grand Prix.” As Quoted on MotoGP.com

The next MotoGP race is Andalucia Grand Prix which is the round 2 of Spanish GP. The race will take place on the same circuit Jerez as part of the double header in Spain. Out of confirmed 13 races there are 5 double headers in Update MotoGP Calendar.
