Marquez Injury Update:

During the Spanish MotoGP 2020 the defending champion Marc Marquez met with an horrendous accident and sustained a shoulder injury. He has been diagnosed with a fractured right humerus. The incident took place at corner three after making an incredible comeback from P16 to a podium fight Marc was engaged in a battle with Maverick Vinales for P2 that’s when he lost control.

As per the report publish in Autosport.com

MotoGP’s doctor Angel Charte confirmed Marquez has suffered a fracture on his right arm and will be airlifted to hospital in Barcelona on Monday for surgery, which is set to occur on Tuesday.

Marquez may also have damaged the nerve.

“It was a high-energy fall, with chest trauma to the right side,” Charte said.

“Right arm with pneumatic impact, third half of the humorous, although not fully displaced, with an immobilized lesion.

“He will be transferred to Barcelona for definitive treatment.

“He has a very close nerve in the fracture, it may not have happened, but it may have happened that it was touched and makes recovery difficult.

“Without a doubt, we will have to fix the fracture with a type of implant, but until we do more radiological tests we will not confirm the treatment.

“Marc is very sore, it is a strange and rare fracture, a blow from the tyre. We have had to sedate him, reduce the fracture and treat him for chest trauma.”

If we include Tuesday, even then Marquez will have only 3 days to recover for the next race. So, it highly unlikely that he will be fit for the second round of Spanish GP. Andalucia MotoGP 2020 is schedule to take place on July 26, 2020 at Jerez. If Marquez misses the second race he would have to do a lot of catching up. He didn’t score in the first round and possibly will not be joining the round either.

Addressing to his fans on twitter Marquez promised the he will comeback even stronger.

Sometimes things don’t go as you expect but the most important thing is to get back up and move on. I hope you enjoyed the comeback! Now I’ll have an operation to fix the fracture of my right humerus. I promise you all that I will come back as soon as possible and even stronger”
