Must-Win Situation for South Africa:

England gained the early advantage by winning the first ODI of the 3 match series. They won it comfortably with a victory margin of 72 runs. Man of the match Moeen scored 77 from 51 balls and took 2 wickets for 50 runs helped his team to reach a formidable total of 339. Series is now 1-0 in the favor of England, South Africa now have must win situation at Rose Bowl.

South African Captain On the First ODI Loss:

“We made quite a lot of mistakes in the first match,” Du Plessis admitted on Friday. “The positive to take from that is that we played at 50-percent and we still got ourselves into a position where we could have won the game. Myself and Hashim (Amla) had a nice partnership and the pleasing thing is that there is room for improvement. We are a team with high standards and we are definitely looking to be a lot more solid in the second match.

English Captain Eoin Morgan was quite pleased with the effort of the team. He praised Moeen Ali for his brilliant performance batting at no.7. The series will serve as preparation to ICC Champions Trophy. Ben Stokes is fit and he is more than likely to play today’s match. His inclusion in the playing eleven will indefinitely boost England’s chances in the match.
