India wins against Australia
Indian team is playing superbly in ICC Women’s World T20 2018. After winning their first three games easily, they were up against Australia in the last league match. The winner of the match was to be the table topper and India did that in style. India scored 167 for loss of 8 wickets. Australia was all out for 119 and lost the match by 48 runs.
Smriti Mandhana scores big
Opener Smriti Mandhana scored 83 off 55 balls and along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur took India to 167-8 after 20 overs. Harmanpreet scored 43 off 27 balls. No other player could touch the double-digit score for India. For Australia, Ellyse Perry took 3 wickets for 16 runs. Ashleigh Gardner and Delissa Kimmince took 2 wickets each while Megan Schutt took 1 wicket. Sophie Molineux was most expensive for Australia as she went for 45 runs in her 4 overs.
Australian batting disappoints
In reply, Australia started with Beth Mooney and Elyse Villani. Both took the team to 27 runs; however, at this score both the players returned to the pavilion as scoreboard changed from 27-0 to 27-2. Only Ellyse Perry fought for the team as she was unbeaten for 39 runs. Apart from her Beth Mooney scored 19, Ashleigh Gardner scored 20 while skipper Meg Lanning could only add 10 runs. Australia was all out for 119 in 19.4 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav leads Indian bowling attack
For India, Anuja Patil took 3 wickets for 15 runs. Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, and Poonam Yadav took 2 wickets each for 24, 13 and 28 runs respectively. India will play the semi-final on 22nd November.
