India wins the Border-Gavaskar trophy beating Aussies in 4th Test Match

India defeated Aussies by 8 wickets in the last test match at Dharamshala to keep Border-Gavaskar trophy. India needed 87 to win today and Australia needed a miracle to stop India. That didn’t happen as Rahul and Vijay started the proceedings cautiously. Rahul hit few boundaries and both took the score to 46 after 13 overs. The first ball of 14th over saw Vijay out to Pat Cummins as he nicked the ball to wicketkeeper. Pujara came out to bat and went back in the same over without any addition to the score. He was run out by Glenn Maxwell. From 46-0, Indians were now at 46-2. Captain Ajinkya Rahane came next and what a knock he played. He took the Aussies.

Pat Cummins tried some short bowling to Rahane and he smashed him for two consecutive sixes. At the other end Rahul was moving towards his 6th fifty in the series. India needed two to win and Rahul at crease take 2 er…3. Both batsmen kept running for the third while they needed only two. Ajinkya Rahane scored 38 of 27 balls hitting 4 4s and 2 6s, while Rahul scored 51 of 76 balls hitting 9 4s.

This series had it all. Everyone at the start of the series expected a washout of Aussies, but they were good. They fought hard; however, it was India who had the last laugh.

A great season came to end with India winning 10 tests and losing only 1 this season and retained the #1 spot on ICC Test Ranking.
