India is in a strong position against West Indies on the 2nd day of the 1st test match. India declared their first inning at 649-9. In reply West Indies is struggling at 94-6. After the first day score of 364-4, India started their day with Skipper Virat Kohli 139 (230) and Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant 92 (84). Both played aggressively and had a partnership of 133 runs. Virat Kohli completed his 24th century while Rishabh Pant missed his century by 8 runs. Ravindra Jadeja 100 (132) scored his first hundred while batsmen at another end kept falling.

Devendra Bishoo took 4 wickets while Sherman Lewis took 2 wickets. Roston Chase, Shannon Gabriel, and Kraigg Brathwaite took 1 wicket each.
In reply, none of the West Indian batsmen could score big. They starting their inning with skipper Kraigg Braithwaite 2 (10) and Kieran Powell 1 (6). Both the openers were out cheaply and West Indies was soon 21-3 and then 32-4 and then 49-5. West Indies ended the day at 94-6 as Roston Chase 27* (38) and Keemo Paul 13* (15) are on the crease.
Mohammed Shami took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 6 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each. India will hope to wrap West Indies lower order earlier on 3rd day’s morning and invite them again for batting. West Indian team management would want the batsmen to take responsibility and spend more time on the pitch.
