ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Rishab Pant Flown In As A Cover For Dhawan. The Flamboyant Left-hander Can Replace Dhawan If The Opener Gets Ruled Out

Ever since the news of Shikhar Dhawan’s injury became public, speculations are high for who will replace Dhawan. Now Rishab Pant has been flown in as a cover. He will replace Dhawan in case gets ruled out due to Injury. Dhawan got injured in the game against Australia and did not take the field in the second innings.

What happened to Shikhar Dhawan

The Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan got hit on the thumb during the match against Australia. He was struck by a rising delivery of Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter Nile. Dhawan is currently being closely monitored he will not return home he will remain England. But he is unlikely to be available for the upcoming matches against New Zealand in Pakistan. Pant will not be considered in these matches since he is a cover not a replacement.

Dhawan was seen in some red hot form his century against Australia helped India to post mamoth total of 352. He was also judged man of the match

What Are The ICC Rules for Injured Player Replacement

ICC Rules say an injured player can be replaced, however, player can not become the part of team even if the player regain full fitness later. This is why team management is waiting to see progress on Shawn’s injury. His Injury suppose to take three weeks to heal. In case BCCI announces any replacement Dhawan will not be abe to rejoin the team. So, Rishab Pant will only come in picture if Dhawan gets ruled out from world cup.

Pant is in some red hot form, he has already done well in England. Even his omission from world cup Squad became the topic of heated debate. Many former also advocated his inclusion in the Squad.
