Formula 1: Sergio Perez A Step Closer To Racing In 70th Anniversary Grand Prix: Public Health of England Confirms Perez’s Quarantine Is Over.

Sergio Perez who was tested COVID 19 positive weeks ago now is set to make his comeback. As per the guidelines of UK Government his quarantine period is over. Racing Point in a news release confirmed that if Perez returns with a negative test then he will be racing with Lance Stroll.

“Public Health England have confirmed that Sergio Perez’s period of quarantine has been completed. In line with the FIA Code Of Conduct, Sergio requires a verified negative test result for COVID-19 before he can enter the paddock. The testing process is taking place today. The team expects to make a decision on who is driving alongside Lance later today or first thing tomorrow morning.”- As quoted on Racing Point official website.

This is also cleared the air over the required quarantine period as there was a confusion whether it will be for 7 days of 10 days.

Sergio Perez hasn’t missed any F1 race since European Grand Prix 2011, he raced in 172 race before missing British GP 2020. Perez was tested positive for Covid 19 on last Thursday. Nico Hulkenberg was drafted in as replacement driver a day before practice race by Racing Point. However, it was unfortunate for Nico Hulkenberg that he could not race in British GP due to last minute technical failure.
