F1 Styrian GP 2020 Practice Race Results & Qualifying Race Schedule of Styrian Grand Prix: Racing Point Surprises With Pace, Perez Tops FP1, Verstappen Tops FP2

The round 2 of Austrian GP has started with practice session today at Red Bull Ring. Sergio Perez of Racing Point surprised everyone with the pace as he topped FP1 and finished 3rd in FP2.  Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing topped the second practice race today. Interestingly Mercedes and Ferrari failed to show some good pace. Valtteri Bottas did manage to finish second in the second practice race. Austrian GP round 1 podium finisher Lando Norris failed to impress in the practices session of Styrian GP 2020 today. Here is an interesting twist in the situation because of  the weather. As per the weather forecast heavy rain predicted for Saturday. Rain can completely change the course of Sytrian GP. If qualifying race gets cancelled on Saturday then qualifying will take place on Sunday. If  it was not even possible on Sunday then grid position will be decided the FP2 timings. Both Mercedes and Ferrari would hope that it doesn’t happen and they would get a qualifying race.

In order to ensure safety of the drivers FP3 has been cancelled due to heavy rain on the ground of Art. 2.1.6.a and 11.9.3.m of the FIA International Sporting Code. Qualifying race will go as per schedule 15:00 local, however, if it is not possible today, it will be scheduled on Sunday. If qualifying race is not possible even on Sunday then grid position will be decided as per FP2 timing. If that happens Max Verstappen will start from pole.

Meanwhile F1 confirmed two more races in the current calendar. F1 is going to make their debut at Mugello the first F1 race at Mugello will take place between 11-13 September. The second race which they confirmed is Russian GP that will take place in Sochi Russia, between 25-27 September.

F1 Styrian GP 2020 Second Practice Race Results FP2:

Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing maxed his power to top the time sheets in FP2 of Styrian GP. However, the second practice did not go well for Daniel Ricciardo who ended his FP2 in a high speed crash without setting time. For Mercedes Bottas finished second while Hamilton could only manage 6th position. Sergio Perez of Racing Point continued his impressive run as he finished 3rd in the second practice race.

Ferrari didn’t have a great day, Charles Leclerc finished 9th and Sebastian Vettel finished 16 in FP2. The new front wing they debuted could not yield significant results. Max Verstappen clocked a time of 1:03.660 to top the time sheets.

Styrian GP 2020 First Practice Race Results FP1:

Sergio Perez of Racing Point surprised everyone as he topped the time sheets in FP1. Max Verstappen finished second followed by two Mercedes. Ferrari remained subdued in the first practice race, Sebastian Vettel finished 10th and Charles Leclerc finished 12th. Robert Kubica took the track for Alfa Romeo in FP1 and finished 18th, he clocked a timing of 1:06:797.

Sergio Perez clocked a time 1:04:867 and topped the time sheets. Max Verstappen finished 2nd and clocked the time of 1:04.963. Lando Norris who impressed everyone in by hitting podium in the first round finished on 14. Kevin Magnussen was the only driver who could not set the time in FP1.
