F1 News: After A Poor Show At 70th Anniversary GP Vettel to Get New Chassis for Spanish GP

F1 News: After A Poor Show At 70th Anniversary GP, Struggling Vettel to Get New Chassis for Spanish GP, Hoping for A Turn Around.

Things are definitely not going Sebastian Vettel way right now. We even saw bit of rift between Vettel and the team at 70th Anniversary GP where poor run for Vettel continued. He was unable to score a point at the second round of British GP. There was clear disagreement between Vettel and the team regarding the strategy. His teammate Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, finished with an impressive 4th. He already scored 2 podiums this season that too with a struggling car as per Ferrari standards.

Sebastian Vettel has scored only 10 points this season and currently at 13th position. However, Charles Leclerc 45 points and currently at 4th position in the driver’s standings. There was clear dispute seen between the team and Vettel on strategic planing of the race.

“Well we spoke this morning and said there was no point pitting knowing that we will run into traffic – and that’s exactly what we did.

“We went also onto a hard tyre, which we then only had on for ten laps, probably not even that, so it didn’t make any sense.

“I mean why would you put the hard for ten laps and put the medium for 20 laps? So I was running out of tyres towards the end, so we spoke about exactly that- As quoted on F1.com

New Chassis for Vettel In Upcoming Spanish GP

Now Ferrari has done some investigation as issue with the chassis caused by such an impact, hence, the team has decided to put Vettel on new chassis for Spanish GP

“There will be no particular updates on the SF1000, however Sebastian will have a new chassis, because after the Silverstone post-race analysis, we spotted a small fault caused by a heavy impact over a kerb,” said Head of Chassis Engineering Simone Resta. “It would not have had much of an effect on performance, but it was the logical decision to take.”

“When you get to the Barcelona track you already know it will be a race where it’s the small details that make the difference,” said Vettel.

“The teams and drivers all know this track very well and that’s why, right from the start of Friday free practice, you can work on fine-tuning the car.

“This circuit is quite different to Silverstone and I am curious to find out how the car will feel here.

“We can expect very high temperatures and so it will be important to find a set-up that allows you to have good speed without causing excessive tyre wear.” As quoted on F1.com
