Women’s Hockey World League Round 2: Indian Women Hockey Team Defeated Chile


In women’s hockey world league round 2, India women’s hockey team beat Chile in a penalty shootout. It was an amazing match and both the teams were tied over at 1-1 after the official time was over. In a shootout, Indian Goalkeeper Savita’s excellent show helped India to win this match.

All team members like Poonam Rani, Deepika, MMonika, Savita and Anupa Barla they all put best efforts to win this match.

This match was really tough to win as both the teams are very strong. Chile was in lead, it is only Anupa Barla who converted a penalty into scores and this level the game.

The real fight was seen towards the end of the match when both the teams were trying their level best to score a goal. Striker Rani was about to a score a goal but it was obstructed by their opponent player Claudia.

The score remained leveled and both teams entered in the penalty shootout. Skipper Rani and Monika gave India 2-0 lead in the shoot-out by converting their chance into goals.Goalkeeper Savita who stopped Chile players Kim Jacob and Joesph Villalabeitia to score against India and which took India team ahead.

On winning this match striker Poonam Rani said “It was a very good match and we are happy with the way we played. Chile was a tough side to beat and we really had to keep ourselves motivated to keep pushing for a goal after they took an early lead.

“It was a challenging tournament for us with difficult weather conditions as it rained for a few days but we are extremely thrilled that we are through to the World League Semi-Final,”

On winning this Women’s Hockey World League Round 2 and Indian team qualify for the World League Semi-final.

Indian Hockey Team is all set for the Seminal and Final matches and hope that India will win the Semifinal and Final as well and comes out with Flying Colors.
