It’s time for MotoGP fan to rejoice as MotoGP comes to Italy. The Italian MotoGP 2017 will take place between 2nd June to 4th June 2017. The Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley will take place on Mugello Circuit. The historic circuit is owned by Ferrari and it is just 30 km away from Florence in the beautiful city of Tuscany. Let us check some quick fact and stats for Italian MotoGP.
The historic track of Mugello which currently owned by Ferrari held the first MotoGP in the year 1976. In the year 1988, this circuit was bought by Ferrari. MotoGP became a regular feature of Mugello from the year 1992. It hasn’t missed any single MotoGP after the year 1991. Earlier Monza circuit was the premier location for Italian MotoGP. The total distance of Mugello circuit is 75 miles (120.6 Km) with 23 laps.
We can safely say that Autodromo del Mugello is the house of Rossi. The mercurial Italian has won 7 race here. Rossi ruled Italian MotGP from 2002 to 2008. Michael Doohan and last year winner Jorge Lorenzo tied at 5 races each. Jorge Lorenzo definitely enjoys riding on this circuit. He has won Italian MotoGP 5 times in last 6 year, only to lose in the year 2014 losing to current champion Marc Marquez.

Valentino Rossi continues to rule in pole position as well. He got pole position record six times at Mugello Circuit followed by Dani Pedrosa at 3 and Casey Stoner 2.

The fastest lap at Italian MotoGP is clocked by Andrea Iannone of Ducati in the year 2015. He clocked 1’46.489 at a speed of 177.3 km/h Iannone is also the fastest man on this circuit as he touched the speed of 354.9 km/h in 2016.
